The City of Cape Town’s waste trucks collect in the area as follows: · Tokai and Zwaanswyk: Wednesday mornings · Tokai Hamlet (Keyser River & Vans Roads): Monday mornings Residents are requested not to put out their wheelie bins on the night before as this encourages crime to the area.Bin Theft must be reported to SAPS. Residents may wish to note the serial number of their bin, found under the handle. Garden Waste Collection Residents may apply for ad-hoc garden refuse collection through the City of Cape Town’s call centre (see details below). There is a charge for this collection. Illegal Dumping should be reported to the City of Cape Town with full details: Date, Time, Place, Description of Person/Vehicle, Registration No, Description of 'dump' (eg garden, building waste) etc. Photographic evidence is ideal. Perishable/wet items, dirty plastic food wrapping, babies' nappies, sanitary items, tissues, etc, are not acceptable. The following items can be recycled. IMPORTANT: ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEAN/RINSED!! Dirty items attract vermin and insects. Any containers with old food will be discarded as rubbish and go to the landfill. Recycling volunteers do not have the time or facilities to wash-up. Please help them to help us and our environment! * Shattered glass and tins holding paint,varnish, etc, must be disposed of at Waste Drop-Off Sites (see below) RECYCLE DURING SPECIFIED TIMES. Please do not leave recycling outside a recycling facility when it is closed. This is classified as DUMPING. Dumping is illegal and a fine can be implemented (see information above).
